MLB and MasterCard extend Stand Up To Cancer campaign
Major League Baseball and MasterCard Worlwide are extending their charitable partnership with Stand Up To Cancer through the 2009 postseason games. MasterCard will donate $1 million to Stand Up To Cancer if a “Hit it Here” sign in the outfield is hit during Game 3 of the World Series. The company will also donate $1,000 for every home run hit during the entire post season.
“MasterCard played a huge role in helping Major League Baseball “go beyond” during All-Star Week,” Allan H. (Bud) Selig, Baseball commissioner said. “We’re thrilled they have elected to expand upon this great charitable platform with Stand up To Cancer throughout the post season.”
“Extending our support for Stand Up To Cancer throughout the MLB Postseason provides MasterCard with a highly visible platform to get behind a critical mission that connects our employees, customers, cardholders and baseball fans, Rob Steeger, vice president of US sponsorships for MasterCard Worldwide said.
