Shoppers hunt for bargains
Retail data from MasterCard Advisors found that the 2008 holiday season was one of the weakest seasons in decades.
“It’s probably one of the most challenging holiday seasons we’ve every had in modern times,” Michael McNamara, vice president of research and analysis at MasterCard Advisors said.
As shoppers head into the last weekend before Christmas retailers have to gamble to earn the most profit without losing customers. Many shoppers are expecting sharp discounts as they complete their holiday shopping.
