Secured credit cards repair credit scores

Posted by Amanda Lynn on January 3, 2010

For consumers with low credit scores or no credit history, a secured credit card can be one of the best options to build a healthier credit history. Secured credit cards require a deposit to be made to act as the credit line in case of missed payments. The credit card is reported as a traditional credit card improving credit scores without a risk to lenders.

Most national financial institutions offer a secured credit card option. Usually within six-months to a year of strong payment history on a secured card the cardholder will be approved for a traditional credit card. The security deposit is returned to the account holder.
